Main topics: -The concept of transcultural, multicultural nursing -The concept of culture, ethnicity, society, common and different characteristics. -Cultural and ethnic concepts of health, disease, death, rituals, specifics. -Multicultural society in the Czech Republic, migration. -Intercultural communication, barriers, specifics, alternative possibilities of communication. -Etnocentrism and its consequences in nursing care for individuals. -Nursing assessment - KM Leininger, Davidhizar.

Learning outcomes
|
Students are taught selected terminology relevant to transcultural nursing - ethnicity, culture, spirituality, faith, religion - and they are presented with basic characteristics of selected ethnic, cultural and religious groups. They are provided with the initial knowledge necessary for their ability to adapt the nursing process in clients while respecting their ethnic, cultural and spiritual background.
On completion of the course, students are expected: to be able to correctly grasp the concepts of ethnicity, culture, spirituality, belief, religion; to know the basic characteristics of selected ethnic, cultural, and religious groups; and be able to adapt the nursing process for it to meet the clients' specific ethnic, cultural and spiritual needs.
