Course content
- health literacy concept, meaning, relationship to health care - human health literacy by individual areas: on health promotion, competence lifestyle and care for the environment, the area of disease prevention, disease prevention competence, non-communicable diseases and injuries, and attitudes to health care based on evidence (Evidence Based Healthcare), the area of health care, competence of nursing care and emergency first aid - intervention and educational strategy: the method of brief intervention for risky behaviors - starting procedures, practical training - modification and educational intervention strategies according to age and social situation of the patient, difficult and uncooperative patient and minimal intervention

Learning outcomes
The course is conceived as a theoretical-practical unit with emphasis on the latest scientifically verified data concerning health literacy in relation to health promotion. It provides students with a comprehensive overview of the standard range of health literacy for patients. It focuses on acquiring knowledge about effective educational and intervention strategies of health literacy. It allows them to acquire skills for implementing educating patients of all ages and social groups in the areas of lifestyle, reduction of bad habits, care (home) environment, disease prevention, nursing care and safe behavior. The total scope of teaching the subject is 28 hours, of which 7 are contact hours and 21 are non-contact hours.
