Course content
The total scope of the course is 27 hours, of which 6 hours are contact and 21 hours are non-contact. Nursing care in surgery - this part is both theoretical and practical. It presents the students with acute and chronic conditions which require surgical procedure with emphasis on surgery in the abdominal cavity and acute conditions necessitating surgical treatment in care for women and children. Practical exercises are focused on the specific features of surgical nursing care with attention paid to women, pregnancy and birth. Nursing care in internal specialty - this part is both theoretical and practical. It presents the students with clinical conditions and internal diseases which require internal treatment in connection with midwifery and complex care for women. The practical exercises are focused on specific features of nursing care in internal specialty in the above mentioned areas, with emphasis paid to women, pregnancy and birth.

Learning outcomes
The course nursing care in basic clinical specialties comprises of two parts - Nursing care in surgery and Nursing care in internal specialty. The first part presents the students with acute and chronic conditions which require surgical procedure with emphasis on surgery in the abdominal cavity and acute conditions necessitating surgical treatment in care for women and children. The second part presents the students with clinical conditions and internal diseases which require internal treatment in connection with midwifery and complex care for women.
After completion, student will know: - current basic issues in surgery and internal medicine - the issues of nursing care in these medical specialties
