Course content
|
The course is intended for International Students. Seminars: Stages of childhood, characteristics of the stages, specifics of care. Growth and development of the child (somatic and psychomotor). Nutrition and the importance of breastfeeding. Newborn: physiological (adaptation, principles of treatment and care), pathological (immature, low birth weight baby). Respiratory diseases Kidney and urinary tract diseases Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract Diseases of the circulatory system. Diseases of the central nervous system Diabetes mellitus - principles of care, selfmonitoring, principles of insulin treatment, diet.

Learning outcomes
|
The course for International Students acquaints students with the development of a healthy and sick child with regard to his individual needs and the degree of psychomotor development achieved in different age periods. It provides a set of information on disease prevention, on child diseases in the whole spectrum. Emphasis is placed on the differences of individual needs and the way of satisfying them, on the education of children. It informs about the importance and nature of preventive measures in pediatrics, including screening programs. It points out the differences of multidisciplinary care in the field of outpatient, day and inpatient care, including care for children under 3 years of age in collective care facilities. The condition for the course to run is a minimum of two enrolled students.
The student is able to describe the characteristics of childhood and child diseases of different ages.
