Obsah předmětu
|
1.Medical Ethics - introduction to the issues, history, ethics codes, ethics committees, medical education. 2.Reproductive medicine, sterility treatment, gamete donation, genetic research. Women's Rights - issues of abortion, sterilization, prenatal diagnosis and treatment, birth, puerperium. 3.Ethical problems of surgical care, informed consent of the patient, communication of true diagnosis. 4.Human needs and quality of life, cooperation with the family, euthanasia issues, Hospice movement, the death of a patient. 5.Ethics of medical research, moral responsibility of patients for their own health and way of life, healthcare professional as a patient, burnout syndrome.

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic approaches of the health care worker towards the patient, considering specific problems, ethical issues related to the beginning of life, prenatal diagnostics, during both normal and endangered pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium. It draws attention to the principles of communication with the patient, his family, and discusses the importance of mutual good relationships between healthcare professionals.
The course focuses on the ethical issues of performing the profession of midwife. It introduces the integration of ethical principles into codes of ethics in health care and addresses ethical dilemmas in dealing with healthcare professionals towards clients / patients. Students learn about ethical principles, urgent issues in midwifery ethics, and the values used to solve them.
