Topics of seminars: 1.Philosophical foundations and main philosophical directions of modern ethics. 2.Ethics - basic concepts, subject definition, historical roots, sources of ethics. 3.Codes and principles, rights and obligations, code of ethics of a non-medical health professional with respect to physiotherapist's practice, ethical principles. 4.Ethical question x ethical dilemma. 5.The problem of security and human dignity of clients (patient intimacy, appropriate communication) with respect to the field specifics. 6.The rights of patients and their observance in physiotherapy, informed consent and confidentiality required. 7.The issue of safety and human dignity of clients with respect to radiological procedures. 8.The theme of working with a child patient, a mentally/physically disabled client, a client suffering from Alzheimer's disease, a theme of ethnic groups, a foreigner patient/ foreigner physician.

The course focuses on the ethical issues of physiotherapy. It introduces the integration of ethical principles into ethical codes and covers also ethical dilemmas emerging from interaction between physiotherapists and clients/patients; with the humanization of interpersonal relationships between a physiotherapist and a patient, between a physiotherapist and colleagues. It clarifies ethical principles and basic ethical concepts, introduces the urgent questions in the ethics of physiotherapy and the standards used to solve them.
The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge of theoretical ethics, their basic principles to increase the sensitivity of students, as future health care professionals, to ethical issues that bring everyday care of patients, to give an overview of contemporary ethics in physiotherapy. The study course should help students to formulate their own ethical standpoints and defence them in the form of arguments.
