Topics of practical lectures: 1.Basic computer diagram and principle of its operation, overview of used peripherals, information record, coding, ASCII code, data storage on media 2.Operating system MS Windows, accessories, system utilities for computer maintenance, Internet Explorer, antivirus software, system updates 3.MS Word text editor 4.MS Word text editor, using of editor for processing of specialist text 5.MS Excel spreadsheet calculator 6.Internet, www, searching information sources on the Internet, medical information databases accessible to UP, Medline 7.Information sources for the field of rehabilitation and physiotherapy on the Internet

Learning outcomes
Students will get acquainted with the basics of informatics, computer technology, general and specialized user programs. The emphasis is placed on practical skills regarding the focus of the study field. During the course the students will be acquainted with the possibilities of using computer network resources to acquire professional information from their field. Information search is focused on biomedical information databases. Students will learn how to process this information using spreadsheets and create graphical presentations of results.
The student of physiotherapy will have knowledge of software used in his field to organize work in the workplace, keeping patient's agenda and present new findings. The student gains knowledge of application programs for therapeutic activity. In the field of bibliometry the student will be able to use the methods needed to search for quality information from his field of study.
