Learning outcomes
The subject emphasizes the complex role of internal and external factors in the development of disease. It interprets the term of lifestyle and specially highlights the key role of nutrition and energy balance on the development of diseases of civilisation. It provides detailed information on etiopathogenesis, development and multi-organ consequences of hyperlipoproteinemy, obseity, arterial hypertenion, insulin resistency, etc. It focuses on factors of pathofyziology of bone metabolism, bone remodeling and disorders of somatotropic and tyreotropic axis. It Introduces the students to the pathogenesis, clinical imagery and complications of localised and generalised skeletal disorders, including degenerative and metabolic joint disease. Special attention is then given to pathofyziology of autoimunity and imunodeficiency conditions with manifestations in the myoskeletal system. The subject explains pathogenesis of central and perifery nerve system disorders, quantitative and qualitative disorders of consciousness, seizure disorders, which it demonstrates with clinical examples. It pays attention to conditions of reduced mobility, ageing and the role of neuropsychological, psychological and social factors. The course includes an understanding of preventive measures and criteria for evaluating the success of various preventive and therapeutic measures, including methods of so-called "alternative medicine".
