Course content
Topics: - the meaning and significance of statistics for healthcare; population, random selection, inference, induction, - general scheme of a research project; methods of data collection, - data processing; analysis, interpretation and presentation of results, - basics of probability theory, basic characteristics of screening and diagnostic tests, ROC curve, - random variable and probability distribution, - selection and descriptive statistics, - estimation of population means, - basic principles of testing hypothesis, parametric tests (t-tests and ANOVA), non-parametric tests (Mann-Whitney U-test, Wilcoxon test, Kruskal-Wallis test), - analysis of categorical data, contingency table, chi-square test, Fisher's test, McNemar's test, correlation and regression analysis, factor analysis, - questionnaire validation - content, construct, and convergent validation.

The main objective of the course is to introduce the methods of collecting, storing, processing, analysing and interpretating data using statistical methods. Students will learn the basic methods of statistical analysis and data processing in healthcare.
