Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to combine sport studies and development studies and provide its attendants with a basic overview of theories and concepts from both fields of study. The course fosters participatory approaches in explaining how sport and physical activities can be harnessed as a tool for further social development and for the stimulation of social changes. Students will gain knowledge from the area of SDP (Sport for Development and Peace), they will work in international groups, discuss current problems and will learn from different examples how sport can contribute to their solution.
The course will enable the participants to gain in-depth and culturally specific knowledge about SDP provision across the EU and within specific international locations. Within the project, students will acquire increased theoretical and practical knowledge on SDP, how are SDP projects organised and what are their challenges and impacts. They will gain new critical insights into theory and practice through discovering current sport and development policies. Students will get practical information about work in the SDP sector.
