Course content
- Municipalities and their role in creating conditions for active leisure, community recreation and basic principles of leisure time management in municipalities; - The urban environment and its relation to physical activity, overweight and obesity and other health determinants in the lifestyle of the population - Urban planning and spatial development in the context of recreation and leisure, general principles for sport and recreation, cycling transport - Typology of leisure time facilities - parks, open spaces, playgrounds, leisure centers and their importance, current state and trends of development, norms and decrees, safety requirements, hygiene, content. - Evaluation of safety and quality of parks, playgrounds and publicly available sports facilities with tools: SOPARC, SOPLAY, SAFE, CAPE-PAC and others. - Methods of improving quality in public administration: Benchmarking, CAF, MA21 and others. - Healthy City Project, National and European Network of Healthy Cities, municipal policy in the context of regional, national and international policies promoting physical activity - Interventions, strategies and approaches aimed at increasing the level of physical activity in the urban environment - Community intervention programs focused on active lifestyle and health promotion, examples of active recreation projects at the level of towns and municipalities, system of good practices and its importance for the sector of recreation and community management - Cycling and cycling transport as an important part of the recreation sector, their importance for an active lifestyle, National cycling development strategies

Learning outcomes
The course aims to introduce the basic principles of city and municipal governance in relation to leisure time, recreation and lifestyle. The aim of the subject is to familiarie students with the current trends of urban and municipal management, systems of quality management, the relation between urban environment and physical activity and basic aspects of urban planning in relation to recreation and active leasure. The key principle is the application of evidence-based knowledge in the management of recreation sector on municipalities.
- Class participant is able to work independently with current sources and information in the field of recreation, leisure time and their management at the level of municipalities (professional studies, databases, etc.), the information can be reasonably evaluated and sorted quickly. - Class participant has a comprehensive overview of planning and management of recreational and leisure time activities at municipal level. - Class participant has an overview in the field of municipal quality management methods, good practices and sustainable development in the field of management of leisure time activities at the level of municipalities focusing on a healthy and active lifestyle.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of subjects Recreology 1, Recreology 2 and Basics of Lifestyle. Interest in the field of the subject.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Essay, Written exam

- Active (80%) attendance in class - Completing exam on work with database systems - Essay (90minutes) and its defense
