Course content
1. Safety and risk management - Strategic documents - Safety and risk management in outdoor education, sport, and recreation in natural and urban environments - Legislature framework for assessing safety and risk in organized outdoor activities 2. Post-modern trends in understanding safety and risk in outdoor activitis - Risk versus safety - X sports and activities 3. Strategies for optimizing risk 4. Risk management instruments for X sports and recreation programs in the outdoors

Learning outcomes
The students will be introduced to modern approaches to risk and safety in preparation, execution and evaluation of outdoor education, sport and recreation in natural and urban settings. Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
1. Student will acquire the expected knowledge concerning the legislature framework, assessing and managing risk in planning, preparation and execution of outdoor activities in natural and urban setting. 2. He or she will be able to distinguish among the individual types of risk. 3. On the basis of outlining a risk management plan for a chosen event, the student will demonstrate practical knowledge of relevant strategies for optimalization of risk.
Prerequisites
Completion of a summer or winter outdoor course and basic familiarization with at least one of the post-modern outdoor lifestyle sport activities are recommended as reference points for the course discussions.
