Learning outcomes
|
Student will be introduced to sport climbing and bouldering as sport activities growing in popularity in its various forms and uses ranging from individual sport and recreation to school curricula and outdoor courses or events addressing a variety of clients.
1. At the end of the course the students will have acquired a range of skills beginning with belaying a partner, through top-roping a climb within the 5th grade according to the UIAA scale, to preparation for a safe descent and rappelling. 2. Student will know and be able to use proper terminology, will know the basic Internet and printed sources of information and understand the cultural specifics of sport climbing and bouldering. 3. Student will know the safety standards of sport climbing and bouldering.

Prerequisites
|
Reading some of the listed basic literature prior to the course is recommended in order to develop a basic awareness of the underlying philosophy as well as some of the sport's extensive technical vocabulary of the sport.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written exam, Student performance, Systematic Observation of Student
In order to meet the course requirements, the student will 1. actively participate in the practical sessions 2. demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to complete a climb up to the 5th grade of the UIAA scale using the top roping belay technique 3. demonstrate technical skill and practical knowledge necessary to set up a rappel and safely descent after a completion of a climb 4. complete the e-learning seminar assignments 5. successfully pass a written test
