Course content
Topics: Experimental methods, observational methods. Methodology of clinical research. Publication manual FTK UP Olomouc. Library systems, databases (work with databases). Fundamentals of statistics and work with statistical software (scales, variability and normality of data). Examples of searching for medical articles, consultations on the process of awarding and creating diploma theses. Ethics in practice and research, ethical codex of physiotherapists.

Learning outcomes
Students will acquire basic information about gnoseological importance, practical implications and outcomes of scientific approach to the problems of rehabilitation and physiotherapy. The course also acquaints students with the basic methods of qualitative and quantitative research and with the possibilities of use in clinical research and physiotherapy. Further discussed are the issues of formal adjustment of scientific publications (ČSN ISO, publication manuals, ..), the issue of databases and internet search engines (PubMed, ScienceDirect, Cochrane, Ebsco, Pedro, ...) and ethics in research and physiotherapy. Students are acquainted with the issues of ethics committees and informed consent in the construction of the methodology of research work.
The student is able to search in medical databases and is able to search on a selected topic. On the basis of acquired knowledge he / she is able to evaluate the quality of the evidence in a medical publication. He is acquainted with the issues of informed consent and ethics of scientific research.
Prerequisites
The prerequisite is basic ability to work on PC for searching in internet databases.

Written exam, Seminar Work

Presentation of a selected topic from our or foreign literature.
