Course content
|
Review of patient documentation. Consultation regarding the reviewed documentation of a specific patient with qualified physiotherapists, including the assessment of results from supplementary laboratory and imaging tests as well as comorbidities. Detailed kinesiological analysis of the patient (both comprehensive and region-specific). Proposal of a short-term and long-term rehabilitation plan, including consideration of comprehensive rehabilitation elements. Hands-on rehabilitation practice under the supervision of qualified physiotherapists (with the option to consult a physician). Familiarization with medical administrative procedures.

Learning outcomes
|
A summer internship following the second year of study, comprising 120 teaching hours at a rehabilitation facility of the student's choice. The internship involves familiarization with the facility's operations and the student's active participation in the diagnostic and therapeutic processes, commensurate with the knowledge acquired during the first two years of studyspecifically: fundamental physiotherapy assessment techniques; basic kinesiotherapy procedures and methods; the full range of electrotherapy procedures; application of soft-tissue techniques and joint mobilization techniques for the limbs.
The student applies knowledge and experience gained from previous studies to routine rehabilitation practice. Based on a review of patient documentation and a kinesiological assessment, the student is able to select a treatment methodfrom among the physiotherapeutic techniques they have learnedthat is appropriate for the specific patient, apply it in a clinical setting, and monitor the patient's health status throughout the course of the practice.

Prerequisites
|
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology corresponding to the curriculum of the first and second years of study. Successful completion of the following courses: Rehabilitation Propaedeutics (KFA / NREPR), Healthcare Administration (KFA / NADFY), Rehabilitation Nursing (KFA / NROST), Fundamentals of Kinesiology and Examination Methods 1 and 2 (KFA / NZKV1, KFA / NZKV2), Kinesiotherapy (KFA / NZAKI), Kinesiotherapy Methods 1 and 2 (KFA / NMKI1, KFA / NMKI2), Special Kinesiotherapy 1 and 2 (KFA / NSPK1, KFA / NSPK2), Physical Therapy 1 and 2 (KFA / NFYT1, KFA / NFYT2), Soft Tissue Techniques (KFA / NMMT1), Neurology 1 and 2 (KFA / NNER1, KFA / NNER2), Surgery and Traumatology 1 and 2 (KFA / NCHT1, KFA / NCHT2), Internal Medicine (KFA / NINTF), Orthopedics and Prosthetics (KFA / NORPR), Pediatrics (KFA / NPEDF), Imaging techniques (KFA / NZMET), First Aid Techniques (KFA / NTEPH). Where a contract with the chosen rehabilitation facility is required, the "Cooperation Agreement" form shall be used; this form, along with the annexes specifying the details of the mandatory internship, is available at the department office. The student is responsible for ensuring the agreement is signed and countersigned by the contracting parties.

Assessment methods and criteria

Student performance, Systematic Observation of Student, Certificate of Graduation of Internship
Written confirmation of completed practical training and a record of specific activities performed during the placement (using the KFA form in the Professional Placement Logbook), covering: 1. Kinesiotherapeutic procedures within the scope of the 1st and 2nd-year curriculum 2. Physical therapy procedures (full scope) 3. Rehabilitation nursing procedures 4. Overview of the range of diagnoses of treated patients Oral summary of the placement (nature of the selected facility, range of diagnoses at the facility, benefits and drawbacks of the placement) during the review of the Professional Placement Logbook.
