Course content
|
Basic concepts, principles and categorization of crisis management, crisis planning, population protection, hierarchy of concepts. Global risks and their causes, possible effects on organization and its management. Analysis of local risks. Case studies of management of emergency situations. Management stages during a crisis situation. Economy of crisis management. Principles of the security system and crisis management in the Czech Republic. Overview of historical development. Planning to ensure security and sustainable growth in the Czech Republic (local, crisis, flood, accident and other situations). Methods to support management and decision making. Psychology of crisis management. Legal norms applicable to security and crisis management. Defence and civilian planning. Material resources for crisis situations. Economic measures for crisis situations. Principles of financing measures to address crisis situations and to ensure local rehabilitation. Legislation and procedures to determine compensation in case of local rehabilitation after natural and other disasters.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to introduce to the students the basics of the course and create conditions suitable for their further development. Another aim of the course is to raise the students' interest in the content and extent of the discipline and related disciplines, to explain to the students the necessity of addressing emergency and crisis situations during the pre-crisis, crisis and post-crisis stages. Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
Upon completion of the course the student knows the theoretical basics of crisis management and is ready to apply them in practice.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Mark, Oral exam, Written exam, Seminar Work
To obtain credit the students must be actively involved in seminars and must submit a seminar paper. Taking an examination is subject to awarded credit.
