Course content
Principles of cybernetics. System approach. Basic management concepts and their significance, history of management. Functions of management. Decision making. Anticipation. Organizational behaviour. Psychology and sociology of management. Communication. Information processes. Manager competences. Management perspectives. Process management. Decision making issues. Basic concepts and processes. Manager competences and decision making. Approaches to decision making issues. Conditions of decision making. Decision making procedures. Possibilities and techniques of applying selected decision making methods.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Projection (static, dynamic)
  • Attendace - 52 hours per semester
  • Semestral Work - 5 hours per semester
  • Preparation for the Course Credit - 5 hours per semester
  • Homework for Teaching - 13 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to present theoretical principles of management and decision making and encourage the students to apply these principles in practice. Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
Upon completion of the course the student knows theoretical basics of management and decision making and is able to apply them in practice.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark, Oral exam, Written exam, Seminar Work

To obtain credit the students must be actively involved in seminars and must submit a seminar paper. Taking an examination is subject to awarded credit.
