Course content
- History of sustainable development in the world and the Czech Republic, - Programme for the promotion of regional development security, - Security management in regional development, - Citizen awareness and education programme, - Planning and fulfilment of population protection tasks, - Government council for sustainable development, - Principles of sustainable development, principles of population protection and ensuring the basic needs of current and future generations, - Elimination of the effects of negative events on the civil society that present current risks and future threats, - Roles of security and population protection in contemporary regional planning with respect to the principles of sustainable development and life.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to present to the students the concept of security and the relations and tools to ensure security within the society in the Czech Republic. The course deals with the protection of an individual in terms of elementary needs (safety, health, environment, freedom), protection of an individual in global terms and from the perspective of international law, policy principles, etc. The course also introduces the impacts of globalization on the protection of an individual, territorial protection against the effects of emergency situations in terms of planning, significance of population protection and population security, tasks of individual Integrated Rescue Systems in terms of population protection, roles of municipalities and regions in terms of population protection, rights and responsibilities of legal entities, sole proprietors and natural persons in terms of population protection, self-security and ensuring population protection by municipal Fire Protection Units. Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
- Upon completion of the course the student is able to describe and explain security management and relations with sustainable development in the Czech Republic, - The student is knowledgeable about basic legal regulation, decrees and laws, - The student is able to perceive the current concept of security and sustainable development, - The student is able to face the consequences and emergency situations, - The student knows the basic aspects of the issue of territorial security, - The student has on overview of and can explain the basic principles of regional planning and building proceedings with respect to population protection.

Regular attendance. Active participation in seminars. Written credit test. Exam from the content of the course.
