Course content
1. Ethics and communication in the treatment of long-term sick patients. 2. Lifestyle specifics and quality of life of individuals with health impairment. 3. Use of applied physical activity during and after treatment. 4. Examples of good practice in the treatment of long-term sick patients. 5. Presentation of relevant institutes and foundations in the Czech Republic. 6. Planning, delivery and evaluation of a made-up project - physical activity leisure programme for children with oncological diseases.

Learning outcomes
Throughout the course the students develop their knowledge of the issue of individuals with health disability. Emphasis is put on the issue of long-term sick children in the context of applied physical activity. The course covers the area of oncological diseases and applied physical activity suitable during long-term hospitalization of children with oncological diseases. At the same time the course focuses on after-treatment physical activity aimed at social rehabilitation of these children. Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
Upon completion of the course the student is knowledgeable about the issue of long-term sick patients. The student is ready to deliver leisure programmes for this target group not only of a physical activity nature and is able to, in a qualified way, cooperate with medical staff. The student knows the contraindications including possible risks and is able to take these risks into consideration in the delivery of variable programmes.
Prerequisites
Interest in the issue of children with oncological diseases.
