Course content
Annotation: The content of Introduction to adapted physical activity is to provide insight and understanding of inclusion in physical education, sport and recreation. Topics of lectures: 1. Basics of Adapted Physical Activity - terminology, history, philosophy. 2. Introduction to Inclusion - specific needs, legislation. 3. International classification of disability (ICF 2001) and paradigm of disability. 4. Attitudes toward persons with disabilities, barriers, lifestyle. 5. Adapted equipment and facilitation of participation. 6. Inclusion in recreation - healthy lifestyle, quality of life, examples of interventions. 7. APA in recreation - examples of good practise, management of the APA programmes. 8. Inclusion in recreation - outdoor activities. 9. APA sport - introduction to disability sports, therapeutic overlap. 10. Inclusion in sport - long term athlete development, discussion panel with athlete. 11. APA in education - models, assessment, planning, adaptations, peer tutoring, counselling system. 12. Inclusion in physical education - inclusive indoor games. 13. APA of the other marginal target group.
