Furthermore, the course develops both theoretical and practical skills of students in the area of specific physical activities and sports that are appropriate for senior population. The students are also informed about health physical education in senior population. Emphasis is placed on compensatory exercises and tools that positively impact the musculoskeletal system; knowledge about basic diagnosis of muscular system and posture; compensatory exercise for muscular dysbalances and functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system and fitness improvement. The students will use the acquired theoretical and practical skills in the field of their expertise.
Upon completion of the course the student has theoretical knowledge in the area of seniors physical activity and health physical education and is able to: 1. Use and analyze current trends in APA of older adults and health physical education; 2. Individually examine the muscular system; 3. Diagnose muscle shortening, weakening and hypermobility; 4. Assess basic physical activity stereotypes; 5. Assess the posture of an individual with respect to certain disorders of the musculoskeletal system; 6. Apply suitable compensatory exercise that is a part of correct physical activity routine; 7. Compensate for excessive static load; 7. Apply ergonomic principles in basic physical activity and work-related activities; 8. Select appropriate compensatory aids for specific types of impairment. 9.
