Learning outcomes
|
Human thinking and decision-making in personal and professional life is hardly ever purely logical or critical as we are often short of information, time or there is no other way. Therefore, we must use various short-cuts, heuristics or intuition aides that often help well but can lead us astray. The course aims at showing when "fast" intuitive thinking and decision-making can be effective and, on the contrary, when it is good to "slow down" (not to be tricked by a vendor offering a "bargain mobile phone tariff").
- understands the way people think and make decisions. - can decide effectively even when short of information. - is well informed about problem situations and possible distortions affecting the judgement. - can recognize manipulation and can defend him/herself. - is aware of weaknesses in his/her thinking and deciding.
