Course content
- Five-day professional internship equips the Ss with the information on the operation of a given facility providing psychological (or other expert) care in social welfare services; in particular, who the clients are, what the facility can offer and do for them. When selecting the workplace, the Ss follow the information on the 'Psychology in Social Services' module workplaces within the Partner Network of the Department of Psychology. If the student prefers completion of the practical training outside the Partner Network, the workplace must be approved in advance by the course guarantee. - Ss attend the consultations with clients from the very start if possible the initial interview, setting the job, dealing with the problem, etc. - Ss talk with the psychologists (or other workers directly dealing with the clients) from the facility and ask about their experience, the cardinal issues, what goes well and what brings problems, what should change. - Ss are inspired by a certain 'mission' of the guide (mentor) at the workplace for their future work in the field of social services. - Ss get familiarised with the methodology and techniques of work with clients of the facility providing social services. Ss learn about the key documents the organisation needs for the operation and in which its principles are grounded (legal documents, standards, strategies, codexes, etc.). - Ss participate in research projects subject to the needs of the organisation and the agreement with the guarantee at the Department, gain experience with the acquisition of research data in the field and identify the areas suitable for further research. The course has been innovated with new practices within the Partner Network of the Department of Psychology. The course has been innovated within the Project CZ.1.07/2.4.00/31.0153 "Establishment and development of partner networks for the implementation of internships and applied research at the Department of Psychology FF UP Olomouc".
