Course content
Introduction to Dutch linguistics, morphology and syntax, basics of generative grammar. Emphasis is placed on the following topics: - history of the Dutch language and current developmental tendencies - comparative and historical grammar in the 19th and 20th centuries - Current Dutch and Flemish linguistic schools - intra- and extramural non-Dutch - linguistic disciplines in the Netherlands and Flanders

Learning outcomes
To acquaint students with the development of linguistic thinking in the Dutch area from the Middle Ages to the present. Attention is also paid to the main areas of contemporary Dutch linguistics.
Better knowledge of Dutch linguistics.

Basic knowledge of Dutch linguistics.
