Course content
|
The rules of Afrikaans spelling. Communicative exercises. Listening to radio programmes from Radio RSG Poets ranging from N.P. Van Wyk Louw to Antjie Krog.

Learning outcomes
|
Students will learn to listen to Afrikaans, to read more complicated Afrikaans texts and to use Afrikaans grammatically correct. Students will obtain knowledge of the history of Afrikaans poetry.
The students will learn how to communicate basic ideas and needs in Afrikaans. The students will learn how to write the past and future tenses, negative and syntax in Afrikaans. The students will attain some knowledge of South Africa and the complexity of the language situation. They have to pass a test at the end of the semester.

Prerequisites

A working knowledge of either Dutch or English and the completion of the course 2Afk2.

Mark
Students must do set exercises. Students must attend all classes. Students must give oral presentations.
