Course content
|
Deepening both the theoretical and practical knowledge concerning the orthographical norm (in accordance with the Rules of the Czech Orthography (Pravidla českého pravopisu) respectively the Internet language handbook (Internetová jazyková příručka)) and the morphologic norm (in accordance with the Handbook on the Czech Grammar (Příruční mluvnice českého jazyka) respectively the Internet language handbook (Internetová jazyková příručka)). The students also make exercises with various examples, write their own texts and carry out editing assignments within defective texts. During the summer semester there is a special attention being paid to the correct usage of punctuation marks, word boarders within a written text, writing and word forms of the words of foreign origin, the most frequent mistakes in using words of foreign origin and transgressives in the Czech language, usage of doublets and the problems concerning exploiting the automatic spelling check functions implemented in the text processors.

Learning outcomes
|
The course focuses on perfect mastering of the Czech language (the students' mother tongue) through the means of repeating and refreshing the knowledge concerning the orthographic and the morphologic norms. The students carry out editing assignments aiming at improving defective texts, too. Moreover they are expected to write their own texts without serious orthographic and morphologic mistakes. When suitable they make use of language handbooks and get gradually familiar with various popularisation and lexicographic publications dealing with the Czech language.
Perfect mastering of the selected chapters from the orthography of the native language (L1) from the theoretical and also practical point of view. The students are able to write their own texts in the Czech language without serious orthographic and grammar mistakes and to carry out orthographic and grammar editing assignments within defective texts. The students are also familiar with various types of language publications concerning the Czech language and they are able to use them correctly.

Theoretical and practical knowledge concerning selected chapters of the orthographic and morphologic norm of the Czech language which have been dealt with during the course NIZ/1CPN1.
