Výstupy z učení
Within the course, we are going to explore six r/evolutions that redefined social state and politics of, and academic thinking about gender and sexuality. Among those revolutions, we will focus on 1st wave feminism and the "discovery" of homosexuality, Western's new social movements (2nd wave feminism and post-Stonewall movement), post-colonial gender and sexuality regimes, change in visibility of sexuality and gender in the media and popular culture, (human rights') politics of equality, inclusion and diversity, and finally, current backlash and Anti-Gender Ideology movements (or neo-conservativism). Every topic (revolution) will be presented in a lecture. Following week each student will introduce a short 5 minutes presentation of a key actor (personality or organisation), or event (such as legislation, protest), or work (such as a book, or film) from his/her/their country (or country of interest). The presentation will be based on research in mass media and academic texts. Herewith, students will acquire topical knowledge within the area of social studies of sexualities and gender with an important international comparative dimension. Thus, they will acquire the ability to locate changing conceptualisations and perspectives on gender and sexuality within different temporal developments and regional conditions.
- ability to read academic texts in English, - ability to give a presentation in English, - ability to engage in discussion on socially sensitive and sexuality-related issues in English.
