1. Basic compositional principles of news writing. Applying theoretical knowledge in practice. 2. The lead of a news story. Comparing specific examples from print periodicals and news websites; writing your own news lead based on an assignment. 3. Information sources. Research. How and where to find information, how to evaluate it, and how to use it in a specific text. 4. Working with wire service reports. Practical adaptation of a wire service report into a newspaper article. 5. How to "develop" your own lead story; principles of reporting. 6. Information from a press conference and its adaptation into a comprehensive news story. 7. Working with press releases from government agencies or institutions. How to turn one into a news story. How to use a "news item" from a municipal newspaper and build on it 8. How to write a caption, infobox, etc. 9. Writing a so-called "collage" 10. Journalistic genres 11. Opinion journalism 12. Political satire 13. Final class session

Workshop of written journalism provides students with the methodological skills for working with text and background for the making of an independent journalism. During the semester, students will be on practical exercises to familiarize themselves with the main principles of work with information, their acquisition, evaluation and use in the production of specific texts. They will acquire journalistic practices for creating news and current affairs communications for various types of printed media and themselves to write and edit text on specified topics.
Students will acquire practical and professional competences and routines that enable them to work independently in given area and the students will be prepared for the practical part of the final examination. |

Analysis of Creative works (Music, Pictorial,Literary)
Required knowledge and skills: - make news and publicistic texts. Credit: - Active and creative work in the seminar by teaching requirements - Delivery of three of its own news and current affairs of three texts published in a domestic printed periodicals - Participation in the seminar (min. 75%) Colloquium: defense developed tasks. |
