Learning outcomes
The course aims to familiarize students with the fundamental aspects of ethics (morality, deontology, axiology) as they relate to the practice of journalism on the one hand, and its role in shaping public opinion on the other. Last but not least, the course aims to teach students to engage in professional ethical inquiry and evaluation of specific ethically controversial issues and conflict situations in the media and journalism. Students will explore the issue of (self-)regulation in the journalism profession and will also attempt to draft their own code of ethics for a selected segment of the journalism profession.
