Learning outcomes
|
The next stage of translation seminar requires working not only on lexical, but also in morphological and syntactical level, complex language style analysis and peculiarities of language rules of both languages, e.g. punctuation. The course focuses on translating and comparing fiction, with practical skills in the art of translation, as well as text editing and evaluation. The course offers thematic translations with discussions on levels of language representations, cultural context and translator?s creativity. Students may take part in university?s annual translation competition.
Students learn to distinguish texts in genre and style, choose corresponding vocabulary, punctuation and work with phraseology units and other set phrases.

experience with longer texts and coherent stretches of text, skills for complex stylistic and lexical translation of adequate quality
