Learning outcomes
|
This aim of the course is to help students to translate on adequate level. Ability to choose from a wide range of synonyms is expected. At first stage, student deal with lexical level of language. The course focuses on comparing the original and the translation and the ability to evaluate and appreciate quality, equivalent expressions and pragmatic function in cultural context. The course should give the elementary skills in the art of translation from the theoretical side, as well as the practical by regular translation practice in both directions.
Students learn to distinguish texts in genre and style, choose corresponding vocabulary and work with phraseology units and other set phrases.
