Course content
1. Socio-linguistic aspect of the tradition of interpersonal relationships in Ukraine and Czech Republic. The pragmatics of language etiquette. 2. Psycho-linguistic aspect of communicative problems among generations in Ukraine and Czech Republic. Language standard and slang. 3. Forming of the linguocultural mentality respecting the development tendencies in educational system. The situation in Ukraine and Czech Republic. 4. Socio-linguistic aspect of age and social strata in Ukraine and Czech Republic. 5. Pragmatic basis of advertisement. The language of advertisement. Transformation of advertising texts in the every-day communication. 6. Current gender tendencies and differentiation in linguistics. 7. The specific features of communicative elements in spoken language of the youth in Ukraine and Czech Republic. Comparison and contrasts. 8. The notion of school, carrier and family in the language image of pupils and students in Ukraine and Czech Republic. 9. Socio-linguistic structure and forming of the professional terminologies in the relationship between Ukrainian and Czech languages. 10. The language behaviour in the sphere of international tourism. The pragmatics of the offered products and presentation. 11. Socio-linguistic of a person. The idiolect as a concept. Prominent figures in Ukrainian and Czech intercultural relations. 12. Socio-linguistic and psycholinguistic trends in the modern world. Types of language mistakes and international interference. 13. Credit test.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to perfect the student?s communicative competence in Ukrainian by analysing the differences between Czech and Ukrainian. We shall focus on the pragmatic level of communication and the functional approach to language means. Special attention is paid to the sociolinguistic and psycholinguistic analysis of present-day Ukrainian as a reflection of mentality of the nation and a means for high-quality international communication. In the discussion the students will develop their ability to grasp the pragmatic level of a text and to narrate a text.
The communicative competence shall be improved from the psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic aspect.

Completing the previous course: Culture of Ukrainian Language 1.
