Prominent theatrical companies in Ukraine. 8. The current repertoire of selected theatres of Kiev. 9. ? 12. Staging a selected play for Czech audience. 13. Credit session.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of this course is to present the students with the problematic of Ukrainian drama of the 2nd half of the 20th century. Students will also get familiar with the basic bibliography and terminology in drama. Attention is paid to the relationship between the history of literature and history of drama in Ukraine and elsewhere. The lectures on separate periods are illustrated by the plays of the most prominent playwrights, which could motivate the students to read their plays in original. The illustrative material shall help the students to understand the basic genres. Students will also have the possibility to act in a performance to be shown at the end of the semester.
The students will get familiar with the development of Ukrainian drama from the 2nd half of the 20th century to the present day and with the primary and secondary literature. They will also understand the trends in Ukrainian culture

Prerequisites
|
Regular attendance, max. 2 absences; a short presentation on a selected topic; reading the assigned texts and interpretation of the plays. Completing the course Ukrainian drama 1.

Assessment methods and criteria

Student performance
Basic knowledge of Ukrainian language, knowledge of basic terminology in drama (on the level of high school).
