01. The topic of housing. Vocabulary, introductory text. 02. Exercising the vocabulary - collocations, pattern sentences, automatization, consecutive interpreting, interpreting a written text. 03. Working with a text - automatized texts (realty agencies, housing administration, privatization.) Consecutive interpreting. 04. Consecutive interpreting. Housing administration - services, fees, prizes. 05. Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting ? housing administration and housing policy, buildings. 06. Summing up the topic of housing ? consecutive and simultaneous interpreting of contemporary texts. 07. The topic of social care and social policy ? main concepts, phrases, contemporary text. 08. Exercising the vocabulary ? collocations, pattern sentences, automatization, consecutive interpreting and interpreting of written text. 09. Social help ? allowances, benefits etc. ? key terms, contemporary text, consecutive interpreting. 10. Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting ? guaranteed minimum income and unemployment. 11. Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting ? help in emergency situation, homeless people, asylum, refugees. Work with text. 12. Summing up the topic of social care ? fundamental aspects, basic texts and contemporary texts. 13. Credit session.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is not only the orientation in various specialized subject areas (vocabulary, common phrases, extra-linguistic reality in a given culture - such as real estate agency, residential economy, unemployment, welfare, legal area, tourism, etc.), but also training in interpreting skills with both written and spoken text (text orientation, assessment, selection of functional dominant text conversion and change the style). Increased emphasis is gradually put on the practice of simultaneous interpreting and translation into a foreign language (i.e. the principle of repetition and increasing difficulty).
Students will acquire the ability to use their general skills to work with Ukrainain and Czech language in consecutive and simultaneous interpreting on the topic of housing and social policy.

Prerequisites
|
A practical knowledge of Ukrainian, at least B2 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages. Knowledge of interpreting methods acquired for instance during the KSU/TOT1 course.

* Attendance, max. 2 absences * Marked record (worst grade 3-) * Passing the credit record * Commented Ukrainian to Czech translation (cca A4) on the given topic or presentation in the class * Commented Russian to Czech translation on a given topic or in-class presentation * Writing a commentary on a selected Ukrainian or Czech realia
