Course content
1. The administrative style. Basic principles. Business letter. 2. Basic administrative letters: announcement, cover letter. 3. Request, letter of complaint, power of attorney. 4. Business negotiation, minutes. 5. Conditions of a contract. Pre-contract agreement. 6. International agreement on cooperation. 7. Contract of sale. 8. Amendments to a contract. 9. Contract of delivery. 10. Rental contract. 11. Insurance contract. 12. Contract for opening an account. 13. Colloquium.

Learning outcomes
This course presents the students with a basic knowledge of the problematic of the administrative style and the linguistic, stylistic and formal properties of business letter as genre in administrative style and contract (sales contract) in Ukrainian as compared to Czech contract. The aim of this course is to develop the ability to work with such documents and to automate fixed phrases needed for translation from Czech to Ukrainian and vice versa. These abilities are further applied to selected texts of various kinds of letters, contracts etc. For completing the course students are asked to submit a formal commented translation of a letter and a contract from Ukrainian to Czech.
Students are able to translate as well as create all types of business letters and are able to translate various kinds of contract from Ukrainian to Czech and vice versa.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of Ukrainian on the level B2 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages. Awareness of basic principles of administrative style on the level of BA studies.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

* Attendance, 2 absences max. * Submitting a special folder with all the assigned letters and contracts * Submitting a seminary work ? translation of a contract * Passing the colloquium (3 attempts), only in the current examination period
