Course content
1. Typical genres of postmodernism 2. Current Ukrainian poetry 3. Contemporary Ukrainian small prose 4. Postmodernism in the Ukrainian film 5. Ukrainian women's writers 6. The importance of the diaspora in Ukrainian literature 7. Videopoets and videopoems 8. Filmed works and main topics of film festivals 9. Psychological Prose 10. The literary diary in contemporary Ukrainian journalism 11. The current Russian-Ukrainian conflict in literature 12. The recent and contemporary translations of Ukrainian books into Czech.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the Literary Seminar is to analyze the current Ukrainian literature. Emphasis is put on the European postmodern context and the current cultural and social situation in Ukraine. The seminar includes compulsory reading in original (Ukrainian) language and/or in Czech translations. Literary Seminar helps students to understand the specific artistic expressions of Ukrainian writers in the context of changes after 1991.
Students will get familiar with the Ukrainian modernism and postmodernism, its features and prominent figures. Students will also learn how to interpret prosaic and poetic texts and will meet personally the invited Ukrainian writers.
Prerequisites
We assume perfect language knowledge, knowledge of the styles in Ukrainian literature and also orientation in the European literature of the 19th and 20 century, the ability to read complicated texts is necessary.
