Course content
2 block lectures on the following dates 14.3.2025 at 9:45-13:00 - Translation and Interpreting Common translations, translating titles for publishers, possible routes to publishing a title, obstacles, financing, etc.- Common interpreting in productions for the Ukrainian community, AIK interpreting, interpreting for refugees, court interpreting, financing, self-employed, etc. Mgr. Dobroslava Čepcová 21.3.2025 at 9:00 - 13:30 Women's prose of the second half of the 19th century (works by Marko Vovchok, Olena Pchilka, Natalia Kobrynská) The Novel Thought of B. Hrinčenko. Synthesis of traditional and innovative ("Under the Silent Willows", "In the Dark Night", "Brother to Brother"). prof. Jaroslava Volodymyrivna Vilna 4.4.2024 at 9:45-13:00 - Language Learning and Non-profit Space Working with the Ukrainian diaspora -- opportunities to teach Czech language to foreigners or Ukrainian language to Czech society, online and face-to-face instruction, language labs and private interpreting work for the Ukrainian (refugee) community, opportunities to help adaptation and integration of Ukrainian citizens into Czech society, cultural activities, provision of needs for these people. Learning outcomes
In the summer semester, the aim of the seminar is to get acquainted with translation and interpreting practice through workshops with a graduate of Slavonic studies at UP Mgr. Dobroslava Čepcová and one block lecture on 20th century Ukrainian literature
Basic understanding of the subject, knowledge of key works and relevant topics.
Prerequisites
Students are expected to have at least a B2 language level of Ukrainian.
