Course content
The plan for the 13 weeks. I The system of parts of speech in Ukrainian. Autosemntic and synsemantic words. II Morphological categories of nouns. III Verbs, classes of verbs. IV The category of person. The paradigms according to person. V The category of tense. The paradigm in present and past tense. VI The category of tense. The paradigm in future tense. VII The category of aspect. Aspect couples. VIII The category of mood. Conditional mood. IX The category of mood. Creating the imperative forms. X Valency of verbs in Ukrainian. XI Active and passive voice. Transgressives, participles. XII Synsematnic parts of speech. XIII Test.

Learning outcomes
This is a subsequent course dedicated to practical exercising the Ukrainian grammar. Special attention is paid to verbs and synsemantic parts of speech as well as syntactical constructions. The course is interconnected with Morphology 2 and provides the practical demonstration of the theoretical base. Apart from that we shall still dedicate some time to oral and written exercises for Ukrainian orthography, especially about writing the soft sign, the apostrophe and doubling of consonants.
Obtaining an outline of grammatical and word-formative system of modern Ukrainian. An ability to conjugate and decline the flexible parts of speech and to use the correct forms in written or oral texts. Correct pronunciation of nominal and verbal constructions.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of the basic terminology concerning word-formation and grammar. Completing the previous Language Grammar Exercises (1, 2, 3) and Morphology 1.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Regular active participation, fulfilling the tasks assigned for each lesson, consulting dictionaries and other literature. A written test on morphological features and forms of autosemantic parts of speech. Written test on morphological features and forms of verbs. Understanding the rules for interpunction and pronunciation.
