The aim of this compulsory course is to present the students with the issue of so called functional approach to language, functional morphology and functional syntax, which has been studied by a number of linguistic schools, such as the Paris School. Special attention is given to the theoretical framework set by Russian linguists, especially by A. V. Bondarenko, G. A. Zolotovova and others. Students will get familiar with the terminology of functional grammar: function, functional semantic field, category, centre, periphery, semasiological vs. onomasiological approach. We shall talk about separate functional semantic categories such as aspectuality or temporality. Through the prism of these newly presented categories we shall view the already acquired categories of grammar, morphology and syntax.
Broadening of the student's linguistic knowledge about functional approach in application to Russian language and its comparison to Czech.
