Learning outcomes
|
The aim of this course is to present the students with a basis of phonetics and phonology, the specific function of phonetic system of Ukrainian language and the specific feature of the phonetic system of Ukrainian language and the aspects of its study. Special attention is paid to the phonetic and phonematic structure of pronunciation, the specific features of Ukrainian accent and the conditions of sound alternations. In this course we shall examine the orthoepic norms of Ukrainian language and point out the acoustic differences and differences in articulation between Czech and Ukrainian consonants, especially in reading exercises. In this course we shall also focus on the role of the phonetics in morphology and syntax. In discussing the separate phenomena we shall apply also the retrospective analysis.
During this course students will get familiar with the orthoepic norms of Ukrainian and with the phonetic and phonemic transcription of texts, poems and prose.

Prerequisites

A practical knowledge of Ukrainian, at least A level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written exam
* Regular attendance, max. 2 absences. * Conditions for obtaining the credit in summer semester: Proving the practical knowledge by phonetic transcription of a text including the knowledge of alternation of vowels and consonants. * Conditions for passing the oral exam in summer semester: Proving the knowledge in the oral exam.
