Course content
1. VirtualBox, searching in the Internet, keyboard layout, optimizing PC´s speed. 2. Dropbox, Google mail, Google docs. 3. Text processors vs. text editors. Keyboard, useful combination of keys. 4. Conversion of files, search and replace function, editing PDF. 5. Styles of text documents, set-up in Open Office and Wordu (principles, practise). 6. Text fileds in Wordu, Open Office, specific symbols Wordu and Open Office. 7. Excel, Google Excel, Power point. 8. Introduction into the topic "Texts, its versions" - team work, SVN, GIT. Google docs ? in detail. 9. Corrections, proof-reading in Wordu, revisions, revisions of plain text, PDF, Google docs. 10.Introduction into CATs - available CATs (OpenSource, GPL) ? OmegaT ? installation, program, translation, TM.

Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook), Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)

Learning outcomes
The practical seminar is aimed at making students familiar with various electronic documents, formats (Open Office, power point, editing, pdf, team work on a bulk of text etc.) and with various software useful in their future translation career (translators, Omega-T etc).
Students will be able to use and edit various electronic formats of documents as well as work with elementary CATs.
Prerequisites
The students are supposed to be familiar with PC (Word, excel, Power point etc.).

Active participation in the lessons, preparation. Preparation of a document (based on the agreement with the teacher).
