Course content
|
Divergent attitudes towards the concept of contemporary Russian language. The language and the development of the society. The influence of political, economic and social changes on the language. Currently ongoing processes in Russian pronunciation. Currently ongoing processes in morphology. Currently ongoing processes in syntax. Newly borrowed words. The proportion of the words of slang origin in contemporary Russian vocabulary. Currently ongoing processes in semantics. New Russian phraseology. Russian from the point of view of cognitive linguistics.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to provide a complex overview of the development trends in contemporary Russian: new processes in morphology, syntax and pronunciation, new Russian vocabulary; borrowed expressions (especially americanisms), jargonisms, eufemisms, new phraseologisms.
The students learn about the general development trends in contemporary Russian and the most recent vocabulary.

Prerequisites
|
Knowledge of Russian, at least B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The course is designed primarily for the students of consequential master study programme, or the students of upper years of the bachelor programme.
