Course content
Development of Russian novel. Development of Russian drama. Russian satire. Russian modernism. Selected chapters from aesthetics. N.V. Gogol and F.M. Dostoevsky. V. Nabokov, I. Babel, M. Gorky and A. Platonov.

Learning outcomes
This course follows the courses of history of Russian literature of 19th and 20th centuries, but unlike the previous courses it does not focus on the separate writers and streams, but on the development of Russian novel, drama and poetry, as well as satire and problematic issues of Russian realism. We shall focus on a more complex approach to Russian modernism (symbolism, acmeism, futurism, OBERIU) and to the work of Gogol, Dostojevsky, Tolstoy, Chekhov, Gorky, Babel, Bulgakov, Platonov, Nabokov and Pasternak as representatives of modern Russian literature.
A complex insight into the development of Russian literature of 19th and 20th century and an insight into genre development and authorites.
Prerequisites
Selected Topics in Russian literature focuses on theoretical issues interpretations of the Russian literature of the 19th and 20th century. Primarily focuses on the development of the Russian novel and Russian aesthetic thinking . Besides the classic literature of the 19th and 20th century in the discipline given the current development of Russian literature. Requires knowledge of literary theory and the history of Russian literature of the 19th and 20th century.
