Learning outcomes
The course introduces systematic work with academic searches, introduces the student to online resources, informs about searching for information based on a specific request, and deals with the resulting inventory of searched information. Emphasis is also placed on citation standards and citation ethics. The course focuses on the preparation of the bachelor's thesis and focuses the student on the following areas: - Selecting and choosing a thesis topic, understanding the topic, - identification of the problem, formulation of the objective(s), - identification of solution methods and the ability to apply them, - working with literature and sources of information, - formal and stylistic quality of the final thesis, - processing, evaluation and interpretation of results.
The students will gain an overview of academic writing, will be able to create a shorter text (academic essay), use researched sources and apply knowledge about the formal level of the text, analyze and present their results.
Prerequisites
adequate knowledge of professional terminology in the studied language, ability to work with printed and electronic resources, basic knowledge of PC work and corresponding search and editing programs, work with printed materials, excerpability, analysis, synthesis, deduction
