Course content
1. Comparison of translation and interpretation. Topic: Paying a Visit. Scenario of a "Visit", practising vocabulary - model sentences, fixed phrases, drilling, brief texts - principles of treatment (reduction, compression, selection of key points, language formulation). 2. Consecutive interpreting of texts - training the memory, responses (political visits, negotiations), commentary on a text - glossary, strategy of simultanous interpreting. 3. Training of consecutive and simultaneous interpreting - summary of phrases, drilling. 4. Topic: opening ceremonies, cultural events - key points, language - lexical and grammatical models. Practising vocabulary - model sentences, phrases, drilling, brief texts. 5. Consecutive interpreting - drilling, training the memory, processing information. Topic: opening ceremonies - dominant lexiacal and grammatical patterns, fixed phrases, topical texts. 6. Practising vocabulary - model sentences, fixed phrases, drilling, brief texts - consecutive interpreting. Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting - topic: cultural events (verbal phrases). 7. Topic: Business - Statistics (main terms, verbs of rise/ fall, fixed phrases, institutions in economy), brief texts, Russian-Czech interpreting, glossary, drilling. 8. Drilling - practising phrases, Russian-Czech, Czech-Russian consecutive interpreting, glossary. Description of bank, key issues in economy (facts, language, verbal context). Russian-Czech simultaneous interpreting. 9. Topic: Company Description - key issues and phrases, Russian-Czech consecutive interpreting. Foreign Trade - facts and key language devices. 10. Topic: Company Description (main phrases, dialogue structure, drilling). Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting of dialogue, comments on the text. 11. Topic: Business Dealing (main phrases, dialogue structure, drilling). Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting of dialogue, comments on the text.

Learning outcomes
The practical course is focused on the mastery of elementary skills in escort (partly also consecutive and simultaneous) (Russian-Czech, Czech-Russian) interpreting within the selected topics: political visits, opening ceremonies, statistics in economics, company presentation. The objective is to define and automatise elementary interpretating techniques while working on a specific topic or text (preparation, automatic use of language standards, active perception of the text, compensation, stylistic transformations). Elementary interpreting techniques and interpreting into the students´mother tongue are highlighted.
On completion of the course, the student will acquire general skills of treating a Russian/ Czech language and text in the course of escort interpreting, consecutive, partly also simultaneous interpreting on the topic of visits, cultural events and business (statistics, company description).
Prerequisites
The student is expected to have a higher-intermediate/ advanced level of mastering practical Russian language corresponding to the level of finishing the 2nd grade of studying a Bc. Russian philology programme at Czech university.

Oral exam, Analysis of linguistic

Attendance, missing max. two lessons per term. Recordings submitted for assessment. Presentation of a topic in class Recording of interpreting in a studio, feedback.
