Course content
|
Content The students will get to know everything important about the topic (emphasizing the most important parts of it) and they will also train different communication skills. The teacher will also emphasize the art of giving a valuable positive and negative/constructive feedback. Basic topics: - patterns of communication. - verbal and nonverbal parts of communication (c) - written and spoken form of c, - defects in interpersonal c, - c in specific contexts, - etiquette (also for managers), - presentation skills, - c and masmedia, - pragma/socia/psychoaspects of communication etc. Students will work also in groups and after the course they should be able to define the basic terms such as pattern of communication, the areas of communication, etiquette, communication maneuvring, verbal and nonverbal parts. We will also talk about the aspects of professional communication, the so called "damaged" communication and many more. Specific part of Social communication are practical presentations and communicational excercises, but also training of the "good" and valuable creating and accepting of positive and negative feedback. The participants of the discipline should be able to transform knowledge to practical skills in everyday life.

Learning outcomes
|
Aims The basic aim of the discipline is to prepare the students for social communication in its advanced form in social interaction, which can be usual or/and unusual. The students will: a) know the theoretical background of Social communication theory, they will know how to analyze social situation and its context, the bases and specialities of many forms of everyday communication. This is necessary for creating the required scientific knowledge and practical skills; b) know how to speak very well, how to present topics, how to negotiate, taking into consideration the basic context of their future (planned) proffesional carreer. The course includes also instructions for solving conflict situations and unusual problems in communication; c) know more about themselves in the role of a speaker, know very well about their weak and strong points during communication, be more effective in social interaction.

The student should already have the base of linguistical theory.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written exam, Essay, Student performance, Systematic Observation of Student
Two absence in the semester is maximum. Active participating in the seminar is expected, such as discussing the topics with other students, feedback, making handouts to the account and also writing an essay about chosen topic (3 pages). It is necessary to pass the short credit test. Credits can be given also after a speech about the topic.
