Course content
1. Russia on the world map. The borders of RF. 2. Rivers, oceans, seas, lakes. 3. Natural biotopes in Russian Federation: arctic and tundra. 4. Natural biotopes in Russian Federation: forests, steppe, deserts. 5. The climate of RF. 6. The Russian plane. Siberia. 7. The largest Russian cities. 8. The largest Russian cities. 9. Natural resources of RF. 10. The population of RF. The demographic situation in RF. 11. The state symbols of RF. The president of RF. 12. The state holidays in RF.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to present the students with basic information about the geographical position of Russia, its natural resources and biotopes. Special attention is also paid to the mentality of Russians and the basic rules of behaviour in Russian society. The course prepares the students for their stay in Russia.
Students will obtain basic information about the geographical position of Russia, its natural resources and biotopes as well as the mentality of Russians.
Prerequisites
A practical knowledge of Russian, at least A2 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
