Course content
Translation of contemporary articles from the different topics - Translation from Russian to Czech and vice versa.

Learning outcomes
The series of practical translation courses is designed as a concluding part of the obligatory disciplines about translation. The multispectral work with contemporary texts concerning the topic of ecology will help the students to train their professional approach to the translator?s practice and to improve their translation skills. Students will get familiar with the vocabulary of a given topic. Students should use not only the existing sources such as dictionaries or grammar books, but also materials from Russian Internet, especially scholarly articles and explanatory dictionaries.
Students will deepen their knowledge of translation techniques and skills and develop their competencies in translating mainly professional texts. He/she can work independently and produce variant translation solutions, which he/she can reflect and defend theoretically. The student can create a glossary on a given topic and use computer technology to process his/her translations.
Prerequisites
A practical knowledge of Russian, at least B2 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages, a good knowlegde of Czech min. on C1 level of the Common European Frame of Reference for Languages and basic knowledge of practice and theory of translation methods.

Written exam

Attendance, max. 2 absences, submitting the written assignments, passing the credit test.
