1. Periodization of the Russian literature of the 19th century from the historical, cultural and social aspects. 2. Characteristic features of literary streams (sentimentalism, romanticism, critical realism), evolution of genres, relation between poetry and prose. Learning outcomes
|
These lectures on the literature of the 19th century are dedicated to periodization of Russian literature, characterising the separate periods, literary streams and movements, discussing the prominent writers and reception of their work in Czech culture. Students will get familiar also with the Russian drama and the development of Russian novel and prose of the 1st half of the 19th century. Special attention is paid to the changes of poetics occurring since the beginning of the 19th century till the moment when realism became the dominant stream in Russian literature.
Students will get an insight into the Russian drama, poetry and prose of the 1st half of the 19th century and will acquire basic methodology of literary analysis.

Prerequisites
|
A practical knowledge of Russian, at least A2 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages. Knowledge of basic literary terminology as acquired from the course of Introduction to Literary Studies.
