Course content
The aim of the course is to give to students knowledge about Russian phonetics and phonology: phonology as part of linguistic, anatomic and linguistic aspects of phonetics, Russian graphic system, system of vowels and consonants, accent, reduction in colloqual speech, Russian intonation, orthoepic and orthographic norms.

Learning outcomes
This course deals with the system and functional description of segmental and suprasegmental phonetic means of present day Russian, the basic concepts of phonology and the features of Russian graphic system: phonology as a part of linguistics, anatomical and physiological and linguistic aspects of phonetics, accent, system of vowels and consonants, alteration of vowels, reduction in spoken language, Russian intonation. The practical part is dedicated to exercising the orthoepic and orthographic norms.
Knowledge of basic conceptions and terms of Russian phonetics and phonology.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of Russian, corresponding to A2 standard of the Common European Frame of Reference for Languages

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Written exam

Attendance, max. 2 absences ? Written assignments (in a special notebook) ? Passing the credit tests ? Passing the credit test: there are only 3 attempts (1 regular + 2 retakes), the credit can only be obtained within the same term, otherwise the student will have to enrol for it again and complete the course with all its requirements
